My Margret Mahy town trip

KIA Ora  On Thursday 20th of may 2021 Tumu hub went to Margaret Mahy playground and Victoria Square.

First, Korokio went to the station with Mrs Carney. That was at the playground. We had to do a scavenger hunt to find stuff that was carved in the ground with this big black circle that was 1030 meters long.

Once Mrs Carney called us in, most of us only had one or two things left to find. Then we talked about what we found and where it was. Then we walked around the circle with Mrs Carney and looked at some things we didn't know about it.

After we went and did the station with Mrs Carney we went down to feed the eels with Mrs Bryce.she took about 8 or 9 people first and the rest of us got to either go on the big slide or on the flying fox I got to go on the playground first.

Me,Pippa, and Willow all went on the flying fox together. Basically all the times we went on it we fell off because our feet kept rubbing against the ground. We were paying too much attention playing on the flying fox and the slide that we didn’t get a turn feeding. We only realised that we had to back because everyone was starting to gather over there.

After we fed the eels with Mrs Bryce we were going to do the waka. First we got into two groups and did some practice with using the oras and practising the commands.

My group went to go in our waka first once we got in and started to do the commands the other group got in the water. This was my favourite part of the trip because it was really fun and I kept getting splashed.

After we fed the eels with Mrs Bryce we walked down to Mrs Brown at Victoria Square. We put our bags down and she talked to us about some stuff. Mrs Brown said we had to go find the three mats in our area and what the meaning was but after Me and Georgia had found them we looked at the pou. there were two in area on the first one we looked at it was a bash colour with some Maori face’s and power shells were used for the eyes on the other one we looked at it was a brawny colour with three angry Maori people and on the back there were some of the first flag’s once Mrs Brown blew her whistle we all came in and Me and Georgia shared back all the stuff we knew then we walked back to Margaret Mahy with Mrs Brown. Once we got back everyone else was waiting for us then once we all sat down Mrs Bryce called up all the people that didn’t get to feed the eels so I waked up and stood there waiting for a little bit and then I got a turn it was really scary because Mrs Bryce said that if they eat the spoon where in big trouble. I found this the most interesting because the females were so big After that we were meant to have a big play on the playground but the bus’s came early so we had to leave I wasn't very happy but I was very grateful cause we don’t normally on a daily basis from school  to Margaret Mahy so we all hopped on the buses and headed back to school.

This helped me with my P.B.L because we learnt a lot so it was going to be super easy.

Do you know any facts about Margret mahy or Victoria square?
